
Pour a glass of milk and enjoy these oatmeal chocolate cookies right out of the oven.
Ingredients:
* 3/4 c. shortening
* 1 c. brown sugar
* 1/2 c. sugar
* 1/4 c. water
* 1 egg
* 1 tsp. vanilla
* 1 c. flour
* 1/2 tsp. baking soda
* 1 tsp. salt
* 1 c. chocolate chips
* 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
* 3 c. quick oats
Method:
Cream first group of ingredients until fluffy. Sift 2nd group together and add to first, mixing well. Add chocolate chips and nuts, mixing well. Then add quick oats, and stir until incorporated. Drop onto greased cookie sheet, and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes, until tops are golden.
Notes:
I like to use a large spoon to drop the dough, and make really big cookies. They need to bake just a minute or so longer. When made large like this, it makes about 20 cookies, but if made smaller would probably make twice that amount.
